In a heartwarming tale first-time homebuyers, Sophie May and Jack Gunter, have recently achieved their dream of owning a lovely home nestled in the picturesque countryside of Dorset accompanied by their faithful companion, Bertie, an energetic, two-year-old Labrador.

Their story is one of perseverance, ambition, and an unwavering love for the countryside.

After what felt like hundreds of visits to new build residential developments, Sophie and Jack visited Pennyfarthing Homes’ Spring Meadows in Fontmell Magna, Dorset and instantly knew it was just what they had been looking for.

Sophie commented: “We visited so many new build developments and they felt a bit crammed in and soulless. But Spring Meadows felt exclusive, appealing and with a nice friendly community. We already know all our neighbours which is lovely.”

The couple, in their early 20s, had saved hard for a deposit and with the help of the Local Authority’s Discount Market Unit (DMU) scheme, which Pennyfarthing Homes was offering on this development, were able to stretch to buy a three-bedroom semi-detached home.

Sophie and Jack, who share a deep passion for the great outdoors, have always dreamed of living in the countryside. “We fell in love with Dorset’s countryside and the sense of tranquillity it offers,” said Sophie, a mental health nurse. “It’s the perfect place to unwind, and it’s also a fantastic environment for Bertie to roam and explore.”

Sophie added: “Being out in the country suits our lifestyle so well. When friends talk about going out clubbing to celebrate their birthdays, we stay in and watch Strictly Come Dancing on our anniversaries. I think we are old before our time, but we love it!

“We are on the edge of amazing country walks and Bertie is in heaven,” added Sophie. “We take him on long walks through the countryside trails, and he absolutely adores it. The sense of freedom and space is something we treasure.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting,” added Jack, a design engineer. “Every morning, we wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of nature’s beauty right outside our window.

“We love having our own place, a blank canvas to put our own touches on. We haven’t done a lot, just painted a few walls and added some panelling. It was so tastefully decorated. We love the view of the fields from our bedroom. It’s just so quiet and cosy!

“Pennyfarthing Homes is such a good company to deal with. It was one of the big plus factors of buying from an established local, family housebuilder.”

Jack and Sophie’s heartwarming story of finding a dream home in the countryside serves as an inspiration to many young couples aspiring to become homeowners, as Sheetal Smith, Pennyfarthing Homes’ Sales and Marketing Director, added: “Spring Meadows is perfect for buyers with a passion for the great outdoors looking for a countryside location.

“The Local Authority’s Discount Market Unit scheme is giving couples like Jack and Sophie the opportunity to buy their own home at Spring Meadow and we are looking forward to taking enquiries from prospective buyers who are looking at this to get a foot on the housing ladder.”
Spring Meadows is an exclusive range of 30 designed homes in its natural surroundings. It offers a range of two, three and four bedroom semi-detached and detached new homes.
