School children from Fordingbridge Infant and Junior School Federation helped local housebuilder, Pennyfarthing Homes, mark a major milestone when the housebuilder broke ground at its exciting new development on the edge of the popular New Forest town.

Pupils Bertie Eaton, Jessica Holley, Orin Morgan and Lily Newland were joined by Land and Planning Director Ben Arnold and Sales and Marketing Director Sheetal Smith to officially start construction on the site to build 64 new homes as part of the first phase at Whitsbury Green.

Pennyfarthing is building two, three and four bedroom houses and bungalows on the site offering opportunities for first time buyers, second steppers, families and downsizers to find the perfect home suitable for their lifestyle.

All properties are built to a high specification, meaning buyers can expect low maintenance costs as well as latest environmental standards, making each home more energy efficient and cheaper to run.

Kim Robertson, Executive Head Teacher at Fordingbridge Infant and Junior School Federation, said: “It was a lovely gesture by Pennyfarthing to invite us to mark this milestone at Whitsbury Green. I know all the children enjoyed the event and found learning about how houses are built very interesting.”

Sheetal Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Pennyfarthing Homes, said: “We were delighted school children from Fordingbridge Infant School were able to join us to help us mark the start of construction at Whitsbury Green which will be a flagship development for Pennyfarthing Homes. We look forward to enjoying a long association with the school and are planning a number of initiatives going forward including inviting the pupils back to visit our show home later in the year.”

To help first time buyers onto the market, the Government backed scheme First Homes will be available at Whitsbury Green at a substantial discount of 30%. The discounts will apply to the homes forever, meaning that generations of new buyers and the local community will continue to benefit every time the property is sold. Pennyfarthing Homes is delighted to be the first developer to provide First Homes in the New Forest.

Sheetal added: “As you would expect from this sought-after location and quality new development, we have been inundated with enquiries since we secured the land over two years ago. Prospective buyers will now have the opportunity to come and view the detailed plans for the first time, take home a brochure and even secure an off-plan reservation on phase one, for plots that will be available this Winter!”

Located just outside the beautiful village of Fordingbridge, just west of the River Dart, the development is surrounded by glorious countryside. Known as the gateway to the New Forest, Fordingbridge is a historic market town on the banks of the River Avon. With 140 miles of cycle tracks and footpaths close by buyers can enjoy everything the New Forest has to offer.

Pennyfarthing is anticipating its four-bedroom show home will be ready for viewing at the end of October.
